Home Telecommunications Beazley Labor would rip into rural telecommunications fund
Leader of The Nationals in the Senate, Ron Boswell, warned tonight that a Kim Beazley led Labor Government would strip money from the Coalition's $2 billion permanent rural telecommunications fund to pay for suburban broadband services.  "The Labor leader, who helped to build a staggering $96 billion in Government debt during thirteen long years of the Hawke and Keating Labor Governments is at it again," Senator Boswell said.  "Just as the Coalition announced that it had paid off all Labor's debt, Mr Beazley indicated tonight is his budget reply speech that he will rip into what was intended to be a permanent rural and regional infrastructure savings fund in order to butter up city voters," Senator Boswell said.  "Beazley Labor is poised to rack up Australia's credit card if they get into power, and rip into rural Australia's savings."  "Thankfully, the Australian people have not allowed him to get his hands on the card."  ENDS Media Contact – Paul Leven 07 3001 8150
