Professor Ray Hilborn from the University of Washington and Senator the Hon Richard Colbeck the Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries at a presentation on Australian Fisheries on February 29, in Parliament House, Canberra.

The talk by Professor Hilborn was titled “Australian Seafood Consumers Misled by Prophets of Doom and Gloom”.

Professor Hilborn and Australian Marine Scientist, Dr Bob Kearney dispelled the myths that Australia’s fisheries are in a perilous state. The truth is that Australia’s fisheries are amongst the best managed in the world and they are sustainable.
